Police in the Philippines have arrested a fugitive lawmaker wanted for alleged involvement in a 22-year-old murder case.
Representative Satur Ocampo, who went into hiding last week, surfaced Friday to petition the Supreme Court to have the warrants against him overturned.
Ocampo is a former communist rebel. Arrest warrants were issued for him last week after authorities dug up the remains of at least 15 people allegedly killed by communist rebels in the 1980s.
He denies involvement in the case, and says the charges are not warranted.
The Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People's Army, have been waging a more than three-decade insurgency against the Philippine government.
