Amazon.com said May 8 that it had received more than one million pre-orders for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.
The Internet retailer says United States fans have ordered more than 620,000 copies, with more than 250,000 orders coming from the United Kingdom.
Fellow bookseller Barnes & Noble said in April that pre-orders for the book surpassed 500,000 copies, breaking the chain's record for advance requests.
Due July 21, the book is the seventh and final installment in J.K. Rowling's series about the teenage wizard. Advance orders have surpassed those for its predecessor, 2005's Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.
