Suicide Truck Bomber in Iraq Kills at Least 14

Iraqi authorities say a suicide truck bomber killed at least 14 people and wounded at least 50 others at a police station north of Baghdad.

Most of the victims from the blast Sunday near the northern city of Tikrit were policemen.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military says some American soldiers were wounded when a car bomb exploded on a bridge south of Baghdad.

There were reports of U.S. troops being trapped in rubble under the bridge.

That blast took place close to where 12 Iraqi soldiers were killed Saturday when a suicide bomber drove a truck into a Iraqi army checkpoint near the city of Iskandariya.

The U.S. military also announced Sunday the death of a U.S. soldier in fighting in a southern section of Baghdad.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
