Lebanese troops have killed six Islamic militants in clashes near the northern city of Tripoli.
The fighting erupted outside the village of Qalamoun Thursday. Military officials say troops were pursuing Fatah al-Islam militants who had taken refuge in the area after a month of fighting at a Palestinian refugee camp several kilometers away.
Last week, Lebanese officials declared an end to major combat with the al-Qaida-inspired militants at the camp.
At least 80 Lebanese troops, 50 militants and more than 20 civilians were killed in the conflict.
On Sunday, at least 10 people died in combat between government troops and Islamic extremists in Tripoli.
