Paris Hilton will star in an upcoming movie musical about organ harvesting.
The 26-year-old celebrity heiress will appear with Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega in Repo! The Genetic Opera. Hilton's publicist Elliott Mintz said July 31 that the film will begin shooting in Canada in September.
It will be Hilton's first role since completing her 23-day jail term for violating probation in a reckless driving case. Based on a stage musical, the horror rock opera is set in a plague-ravaged future in which a company called Geneco sells organs on the installment plan. If people can't make the payments, their organs are repossessed. Hilton will play the fame-seeking daughter of Geneco's owner.
Speaking in the July 30 edition of the entertainment paper Daily Variety, producer Carl Mazzocone said "We saw many actresses for the role, and Paris sang it better than all of them."
Director Darren Lynn Bousman said "I have auditioned at least 30 actresses for this role - Paris came in and owned it."
