O.J. Simpson to Face Felony Robbery Charges, Held Without Bail

update

Police in the U.S. resort city of Las Vegas, have arrested former football star O. J. Simpson and are preparing to charge him in connection with an alleged armed robbery.

Police said Sunday that Simpson faces charges including robbery with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon. A judge has ordered Simpson held without bail.

Officers said Simpson, who was acquitted in the mid 90's on charges of killing his former wife and her friend Ron Goldman, did not use a gun during the alleged robbery. But, police said guns were brandished when a group of people - including Simpson - burst into the hotel room of a sports souvenir collector on Thursday.

The collector said Simpson and the other men demanded that he hand over memorabilia from Simpson's career.

Before his arrest, Simpson denied anyone in his group was carrying a gun and said he was in the hotel room to get back things that belonged to him.

Police said they arrested another man on Saturday in connection with the incident and were looking for four other men for questioning.

The collector in Las Vegas allegedly had a number of photographs that Simpson wanted. He also had the suit of clothes Simpson was wearing the day he was acquitted of murder in 1995.

Simpson was later held liable for their deaths by a civil court and ordered to pay the victims' estates 33 million dollars.
