Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, jailed for six years for illegal weapons possesson, was released on bail from a prison in western India Thursday.
Dutt walked out of jail after the Supreme Court granted him bail earlier this week. He is appealing his conviction on charges of attaining weapons from gangsters involved in the 1993 Mumbai bombings that killed 257 people.
Later, he told a crowd of well-wishers that he was confident that justice would be delivered.
His lawyers say it could take months for his appeal to be heard by the Supreme Court.
Dutt says he is innocent. He says he bought a Kalashnikov assault rifle to protect his family.
