Spain Reaches Finals of Euro 2008 by Beating Russia 3-0

Spain has defeated Russia, 3-0, to reach the final of the European Football Championships for the first time since 1984.

In a pouring rain in Vienna, Austria, Xavi Hernandez , in the 50th minute, Dani Guiza, in the 73rd minute and David Silva in the 82nd minute scored for Spain, all in the second half of play. The Spaniards dominated Thursday night's game, while Russia's offense never got untracked.

Spain won the European title in 1964, when it beat the former Soviet Union, 2-1. The Spaniards had never lost to Russia in four previous meetings, including a 4-1 pasting in the first round of this tournament, being co-hosted by Austria and Switzerland.

Spain will face Germany in the title match Sunday in Vienna. Germany won its semifinal on Wednesday over Turkey, 3-2, in Basel, Switzerland.
