U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has sworn in former California representative Hilda Solis as head of the U.S. Department of Labor.
Biden delivered the oath Friday in Washington at the Labor Department.
Solis is a long-time workers' rights advocate from California.
The Senate confirmed Solis last month, in a vote that was delayed by controversy over her husband's tax payments.
The delay came after a U.S. newspaper, USA Today, published a report that Solis' husband, who owns a car-repair business, had outstanding tax liens against his business. Once the news surfaced, he quickly paid the debts.
