With revenues from Zimbabwean soccer fans under pressure due to the recent conversion of gate fees from the worthless local currency to hard currencies, the country's Premier Soccer League has divided over a proposal to share receipts between home and visiting teams.
PSL officials have proposed that gate fees be shared among the 16 member teams, but more prominent and successful teams like Harare-based Dynamos and Highlanders of Bulawayo want to keep 100% of admissions paid by fans when they play at home.
Sports commentator Michael Kariati said sports administrators and fans hope the stand-off can be resolved before the second round of weekend matches in this season.
But Kariati told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that some of the stronger teams have already refused to share gate takings, creating bad feeling within the league.
