The day after Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday shopping season, in which many U.S. retailers realize up to 75 percent of their yearly profits. But the September terrorist attacks, and the threat of bioterrorism continue to ratchet up consumer fears.
However, many experts point to a much more resilient mood taking hold for the winter holidays.
