One of Zimbabwe’s opposition parties says its chances of winning next month’s presidential elections are bright. Most analysts say the Zimbabwe African Peoples Union, ZAPU, can not pose a serious challenge to either the ruling party or the main opposition. But ZAPU’s presidential candidate, Paul Siwela, told reporter Chinedu Offor that he will pull off an upset. Mr. Siwela says the popularity of the ruling party and the main opposition party are just creations of the media. He says he is looking forward to a meeting with the Commonwealth Observer Group, scheduled for later this month, at which he hopes to convince President Robert Mugabe to allow all parties equal access to the media.
