U-S Senator Feingold calls for free and fair elections in Zimbabwe. - 2002-02-26


The head of the US Senate sub-committee on Africa says he’s very concerned about conditions in Zimbabwe in the run-up to next month’s presidential elections. Senator Russ Feingold (D-Wis)is calling on President Robert Mugabe and the ruling party to ensure the elections are free and fair. the government says they will be, but there’s growing concern about its actions during the campaign.

Senator Feingold, who’s just returned from a trip to Africa, spoke to English to Africa's Joe De Capua about the political situation in Zimbabwe.
