Dutch rider Erik Dekker has won the third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico cycling race in Italy and took the overall lead in the sea-to-sea event.
Dekker beat Moldovan rider Ruslan Ivanov by .12 of a second in the 12.7 kilometer individual time trial. Ivanov is also now second overall, 11 seconds behind Dekker. Former overall leader Danilo Di Luca of Italy dropped to fifth place, after crossing the line 44 seconds behind Dekker.
Meanwhile, under a new anti-doping law, police officials carried out a search of the hotels and homes of several of the riders. Authorities did not announce that they had found anything, and all of the targeted riders started the day's stage.
