Larry James covers Russia and Central Asia from the VOA bureau in Moscow.
He joined VOA in 1973 as an intern and has worked in a variety of jobs, including newswriter, reporter and program host.
Larry has spent more than 10 years overseas as a VOA Correspondent. He reported on West Africa from our Abidjan bureau, the Middle East from our bureau in Cairo and Western Europe from Paris.
Larry also has extensive experience as a freelance reporter for National Public Radio, The Washington Post, The New York Times and Time magazine.
Prior to the Moscow assignment, Larry was Director of English Programs.
His hobbies include teaching flying and scuba diving. He has published scuba diving guides to the Red Sea and Maldives.
