Christians and Muslims Clash In Nigeria's Plateau State - 2002-07-29

Police in the central Nigerian State of Plateau say ten people have been killed in Kadarko. The town has been the scene of recent violent clashes between Muslims and Christians. Clashes between Christians and Muslims have left hundreds dead in the state since September.

Police believe this time, the attackers are foreigners brought in from neighboring Niger or Chad to help the Muslims. Reporter Isa Abdulsalami spoke with English to Africa Josephine Kamara about these latest clashes. Isa says they may have been retaliatory attacks against the majority Christian Tarok ethnic group, who for the last year have fought the minority Muslim Hausa-Fulani group.
