Officials in Suriname say the country's trade and industry minister was found dead in his hotel room in Trinidad.
Authorities say they believe Jacques Tjong Tjin Joe died in his sleep. He was in Trinidad for a trade meeting.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Officials say his body will then be flow back to Suriname.
Mr. Tjong Tjin Joe served in several top government positions and was a doctor by trade. He was reported to be 70-years-old.
