World Bank Efforts To Fight AIDS - 2002-10-09

Some health researchers say efforts to find an AIDS vaccine are being hampered by poor funding. They say global financial institutions like the World Bank are not providing enough money to scientists and agencies working to find a vaccine and a cure.

The World Health Organization or W.H.O says HIV /AIDS has killed more people than all the world wars combined.

Eric Chinje is a senior communications officer for the World Wank. He says it's taking steps to address the concerns of critics. English to africa reporter Chinedu Offor asked Mr. Chinje what the bank is doing to help fight aids.
