Ed Warner - 2003-01-17

For several years, Ed Warner has written background reports on international affairs for VOA, with special emphasis on the nations of the former Soviet Union and the Muslim world. He has issued a number of reports from travels in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

He has also dealt with foreign policy questions concerning the U.S. role in the post Cold War era: how extensive American involvement should be overseas and what form it should take.

Previously, he edited and supervised documents for VOA and was a political writer and book reviewer for Time magazine.

He is married and has two children, one of whom served as a marine lieutenant in combat in the Gulf war.

Ed majored in history at Amherst College where he came under the lasting influence of the writings of George Kennan, on how to exercise power with prudence.
