Ernie Els Wins Johnnie Walker Golf Classic - 2003-02-16

South African golfer Ernie Els has won his fourth title of the year in five starts, as he set two more records on his way to winning the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth, Australia.

Ernie carded a six-under par 66 at the Lake Karrinyup golf course Sunday to close out the tournament with a 29 under-par total of 259, the lowest score ever on the European tour. Ernie's 10 stroke win over Australians Stephen Leaney and Andre Stolz was also the widest victory margin in the event's 12-year history.

Playing the best golf of his career, the world number two outclassed the field from start to finish. It was Els' sixth win in his last eight starts.

Five other players, including defending champion Retief Goosen of South Africa, shared fourth place with 17 under-par totals of 271.
