A German court has convicted a Moroccan man on charges of supporting the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.

The court in Hamburg sentenced Mounir El Motassedeq to 15 years in prison.

He is the first suspect tried anywhere in connection with the terror attacks. Suicide hijackers took over four passenger jets, crashing two of them into the World Trade Center and another into the Pentagon. More than 3,000 people were killed in the attacks.
