update

In Zimbabwe, there have been no cases of SARS, but the Ministry of Health and Child Development says it has put plans into effect to prevent the spread of the disease. Officials say the measures include designating hospitals to manage any outbreak and educating the public about the disease.

Dr. Stanley Midzi is deputy director of disease prevention and control in the health ministry. He says a team of health professionals is on stand-by to tackle any reported cases of the disease. Dr. Midzi told Studio Seven’s Chinedu Offor that as a first step the government has divided its response team into groups.
