Jo Dee Messina Releases Greatest Hits - 2003-06-26

Jo Dee Messina arrived on the Country music scene in 1996. Since then, the 32-year-old singer from Massachusetts has recorded five Number One Country songs, sold millions of albums and won several major industry awards. Jo Dee recently released her first Greatest Hits anthology.

Jo Dee Messina scored her first Number One single on the Country chart in 1998 with Bye Bye. In addition to that song, her new Greatest Hits compilation contains Jo Dee's four other chart-toppers, I'm Alright, Stand Beside Me, That's The Way and Bring On The Rain, a duet she recorded with her friend and producer, Country star Tim McGraw.

Jo Dee's new anthology also features a bonus track of the Number One video to Bring On The Rain.

Greatest Hits recently debuted at Number One on Billboard's Country Singles chart, and it entered among the Top 15 on the pop albums list.

The collection contains four new songs that were composed by some of Nashville's best songwriters, including Marv Green, Bill Luther and Phil Vassar. Vassar, who established his own recording career three years ago, co-wrote Jo Dee's first big hit Bye Bye. He collaborated with noted songwriter Annie Roboff on this new Messina track, Wishing Well.

The release of Jo Dee's Greatest Hits CD came as a surprise to her fans. They were expecting a new studio album, called Delicious Surprise, that Messina had been working on for nearly three years. But, when Jo Dee presented the collection to her label, Curb Records, they informed her of their decision to issue a career retrospective instead. Executives at Curb will only say that Jo Dee is still working on her next studio album. Her management company made an official comment that said, "we have great hopes that it will be released this fall." In the meantime, Jo Dee is performing a U.S. tour through October.
