Diego Forlan scored two goals in the first half and American Tim Howard made several key saves to lead English football club Manchester United to a 3-1 victory over Spanish side FC Barcelona. The win Sunday in Philadelphia allowed Manchester to complete its U.S. tour with a perfect record.
Playing before a sellout crowd of 68,396 at the opening of Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, Barcelona took a 1-0 lead when striker Patrick Kluivert headed home a perfect pass 10 minutes into the match.
But Manchester United took control after that. Forlan equalized with a diving header in the 26th minute, then gave his team the lead 11 minutes later when he took a crossing pass and sent it into the upper left-hand corner of the net. Ruud van Nistelrooy added an insurance goal in the 84th minute.
Manchester United finished its U.S. tour with four wins and no losses, also beating Glasgow Celtic of Scotland, Mexico's Club America 3-1 and Italian champion Juventus.
