The Minnesota Vikings suffered their first loss of the season Sunday, falling to the NY Giants at home, 29-17. Giants quarterback Kerry Collins threw for 375 yards and two touchdowns.
The magic finally ended for Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells as the Cowboys had their five game winning streak snapped by defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay, it was the Bucs 16, Dallas 0. Tampa Bay is now 4-3 on the season, the Cowboys are now 5-2 but still in first place in the NFC Eastern Division.
The Carolina Panthers are now 6-1 and in first place in the NFC South after a 23-20 overtime win against New Orleans. The Saints fall to 3-5 on the year. The big star for Carolina was running back Stephen Davis, who rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
The New England Patriots hold onto first place in the AFC East with a 9-3 win over Cleveland, and improve to 6-2 on the year. Adam Vinatieri kicked three field goals for the Patriots. The Browns slip to 3-5 with the loss.
St Louis is now 5-2 on the season after a 33-21 win over Pittsburgh Sunday. Arlen Harris scored three touchdowns for the Rams.
Baltimore goes to 4-3 after a 26-6 victory over Denver which falls to 5-3.
The Chicago Bears blitzed Detroit 24-16 for their second victory of the year.
The Cincinnati Bengals won their second straight with a 27-24 upset over NFC West leading Seattle. The winning touchdown came on a 52 yard pass from Jon Kitna to Chad Johnson.
The Tennessee Titans have now improved to 6-2 on the season with a 30-17 win over Jacksonville. This was the fifth straight game the Titans had scored 30 or more points.
The Philadelphia Eagles came from behind to defeat the New York Jets 24-17 as Eagles quarterback Donovan Mcnab completed 17 of 23 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown.
Tim Duncan, who had missed three of five field goals in regulation time, kicked a 39 yarder in overtime and gave the Arizona Cardinals an upset 16-13 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Quarterback Peyton Manning threw three touchdown passes in a span of three minutes late in the second quarter and the Indianapolis Colts went on to defeat Houston and improve to 6-1 on the year.
