Bryant's Next Court Date Pushed Back - 2003-10-29

National Basketball Association star Kobe Bryant's next court appearance on sexual assault charges has been pushed back from November 10 to November 13.

Colorado District Judge Terry Ruckriegle allowed the change Tuesday, after District Attorney Mark Hurlbert asked to have the hearing postponed because of a scheduling conflict.

Prosecutors also said they do not object to having cameras in the courtroom next month for the Los Angeles Lakers star's first appearance in state district court. Court TV and the Associated Press have asked Judge Ruckreigle to allow cameras, but the Judge has not yet ruled on the media request.

At the November 13 hearing Bryant will be advised of his rights, the charge against him and the possible penalty of four years to life in prison or 20 years to life on probation. He would also be allowed to enter his plea.

The 25-year-old Bryant has been charged with felony sexual assault. He is accused of raping a 19-year-old hotel worker June 30 at a luxury Colorado resort. Bryant admits he had sex with the woman, but says it was consensual.
