World number-one women's golfer Annika Sorenstam has clinched her sixth ladies' tour "player of the year award" and added two more records to her credit, with a win at the Mizuno Classic in Shiga, Japan.
The Swedish superstar carded a six-under-par 66 in Sunday's third and final round for a nine-stroke victory. Her 24-under-par final score breaks the Ladies Professional Golf Association scoring record for 54 holes.
Sorenstam's victory also makes her the first woman to win two different tournaments three years in a row.
South Koreans Grace Park and Se Ri Pak and Sophie Gustafson of Sweden all finished at 15-under in a three-way tie for second place.
Sorenstam already shared the 54-hole tournament scoring record with American Wendy Ward, but her performance Sunday improved her mark by three strokes. She also shaved one stroke off her LPGA overall scoring record which she had shared with Karrie Webb of Australia.
