Renate Goetschl Wins Super Giant Slalom World Cup - 2003-12-07

Austrian skier Renate Goetschl won the women's World Cup super giant slalom event in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, spoiling Frenchwoman Carole Montillet's bid for a third victory in three days. Goetschl won the race Sunday one minute, 14.98 seconds, beating teammate Michaela Dorfmeister by over one-half second. Hilde Gerg of Germany was third (1:15.66).

It was the first win of the season for the 28-year-old Austrian, whose last victory in the super-G was in Innsbruck last February. Montillet, who was eighth on Sunday, won the downhill races on Friday and Saturday and was attempting to become the first woman since Germany's Katja Seizinger in 1997 to win three races in three days.
