Italian police say they have arrested a suspected member of the Red Brigades terror organization.
The 35-year-old suspect, Diana Blefari Melazzi, was the tenant of a basement apartment, which was allegedly used by the Red Brigades organization. Italian police arrested her in a pre-dawn raid on a house on the coastline just outside of Rome.
Police said Ms. Melazzi was not armed and did not resist arrest. They added that they found fake identification papers with her photo and a large amount of money in her house. The woman was taken to police headquarters, but refused to answer any questions.
Investigators say they believe Ms. Melazzi had an important role in the Red Brigades organization, which was most active in the 1970s and '80s. She had rented the apartment where police discovered 100 kilograms of explosives on Saturday.
