Australian Field Hockey Team Wins Sultan Azlan Shah Cup - 2004-01-18

In field hockey, Travis Brooks scored a pair of goals to lead Australia to a 4-3 upset victory over defending champion Pakistan, as the Aussies claimed the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Australia's victory Sunday ended Pakistan's undefeated run at the 10-day competition and came two days after the Australians scored a 4-2 upset over Germany in the preliminary round.

In another surprise, South Korea edged world champion Germany 3-2 in a penalty shoot out to take third place in the tournament. Spain beat Malaysia 2-1 in Sunday's other game, while India finished last in the tournament. Many of the seven teams are fielding untested players as they finalize their lineups for this year's Olympics in Athens.
