Panama's Foreign Ministry has canceled more than 120 diplomatic passports issued by its former president, including a travel pass given to Sean Connery, the film star who formerly played the role of super-spy James Bond.
A government statement Friday said former President Mireya Moscoso, who stepped down last month after an election defeat, issued diplomatic passports to a variety of her political friends, businessmen and entertainers, including Connery.
Officials say there was no justification for Ms. Moscoso's actions. They are asking all holders of the now-invalid passports to return them.
The actor was known as a friend of President Moscoso, whom he visited in Panama about 18 months ago.
