British police say a Singapore Airlines passenger jet has landed safely in northern England after a bomb threat, which authorities say may have been a hoax.
The flight from Frankfurt to New York was diverted Monday to Manchester Airport after German officials notified the airport of a security alert.
The Boeing aircraft with 293 passengers and a crew of 19 landed without incident in Manchester, where the passengers disembarked.
A Manchester police spokeswoman said early indications are the bomb threat could be a hoax, but could not yet be confirmed.
The plane was the fourth commercial flight diverted for security reasons in Europe in just over a week.
