Basketball: Seattle Storm Wins WNBA Finals - 2004-10-13


The Seattle Storm is the new Women's National Basketball Association champion. Seattle defeated the visiting Connecticut Sun, 74-60, in the third and decisive game of the WNBA Finals.

Betty Lennox led the Storm with 23 points Tuesday. Seattle teammate Kamila Vodichkova added 14 points while Lauren Jackson had 13. Nykesha Sales led Connecticut with 18 points.

Connecticut won the series opener by four points 68-64 on its home court. Seattle edged the Sun by two points 67-65 on Sunday to even the three-game series.

Seattle did not lose at home during this season's playoffs, posting five straight wins. Seattle is the fourth WNBA champion in the league's eight-year history. All of the WNBA champions have won the title on their home court.
