MLB: Heavy Rain Postpones Game 3 of AL Championship Series - 2004-10-16

Heavy rain in Boston has caused Game Three of the American League Championship Series to be postponed. Major League Baseball made the decision due to steady rains, bad field conditions and a rainy weather forecast. Game three in the series will now be played Saturday night at historic Fenway Park in Boston with Bronson Arroyo scheduled to pitch for Boston and Kevin Brown due to start for the New York Yankees.

The Yankees lead the best-of-seven series two games to nothing after beating Boston twice at Yankee stadium this week. Game four in the series will be played Sunday and game five, if necessary, will be played Monday afternoon. Games six and seven if necessary will be back at Yankee Stadium in New York on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Game three in the National League Championship series will be played in Houston, Texas on Saturday afternoon with 18 game winner Roger Clemens set to pitch for the Houston Astros and Jeff Suppan scheduled to pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis leads the series two games to nothing.

The winners of these two Championship Series will meet in the World Series.
