95 Chinese Killed by Typhoon Longwang

China says 95 people in the southeast of the country are confirmed dead from Typhoon Longwang, as rescuers continue to search for police recruits swept away by a storm-triggered landslide.

Officials say the bodies of 80 police trainees have been recovered since flooding and landslides washed away two training school barracks in Fujian province last week.

China's official Xinhua news agency says rescuers are still searching for five recruits.

State media have also reported that China's flood season has killed more than 1200 people and left another 331 missing.

Xinhua quotes a senior official as saying more than one million houses were ruined, and economic losses are estimated at more than $16 billion.
