Bush Thanksgiving Greeting Praises American Compassion

President Bush, in a Thanksgiving holiday greeting to the nation, has praised the compassion and charity of the American people.

In his weekly radio address Saturday, Mr. Bush thanked all those who volunteer and strive to help those in need. He said the United States has been blessed since the nation's founding with the chance to live and worship in freedom.

The president had special words of thanks for American military forces fighting to bring democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan. He noted the burdens of long deployments and painful separations on American troops and their families, and said the country would forever honor their sacrifices.
