High Murder Rate Drives El Salvador Election

Analysts say El Salvador's high murder rate and unemployment are the driving issues in Sunday's congressional and mayoral elections.

The polling pits El Salvadoran President Tony Saca's ARENA party against the leftist Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front or FMLN.

The FMLN was a rebel group during El Salvador's civil war and became a political party under the 1992 peace deal.

Voters are choosing all 84 members of the country's legislature and 262 mayors.
