Israeli police say an Israeli security guard has shot dead a Palestinian teenager at a protest near Israel's West Bank separation barrier.
Palestinian hospital staff confirmed they had the body of the 16-year-old boy.
Israeli officials say they detained the guard after he fired on rock-throwing protesters.
Israel says the security barrier is needed to keep suicide bombers from its cities. Palestinians say the barrier construction is a land-grab.
Also Friday, Yonatan Bassi, the head of the Israeli government agency charged with removing some 9,000 Israeli settlers from the Gaza Strip and four small enclaves in the West Bank told a newspaper he expects about two-thirds of the settlers to leave before troops evict them in mid-August.
