Da Vinci's Mona Lisa Back On Public Display At Louvre

Mona Lisa in its new location at the Louvre
Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting, the Mona Lisa, is back on public display at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

The 500-year-old work of art has been moved to a larger room that has undergone a $6 million makeover to prevent the huge pedestrian traffic jams that plagued its former location.

The Peruvian architect in charge of the project, Lorenzo Piqueras, says the renovation will make it easier for visitors to find Mona Lisa and her celebrated smile.

Mona Lisa is being displayed with about 50 other 16th century Italian paintings, including the giant Wedding Feast at Cana by Veronese at the opposite end of the room.
