American Phil Mickelson has captured his second Masters golf title with a two-shot victory in Augusta, Georgia.
The left-handed Mickelson carded a final round three under-par 69 Sunday. Mickelson's four-day total of seven under-par 281 edged South African Tim Clark by two strokes.
Five players ended three shots off the lead, including four-time Masters champion Tiger Woods, who struggled with putting on the final day. He shared third place with fellow Americans Fred Couples and Chad Campbell. Also at four under-par were South African Retief Goosen and Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal.
Mickelson had played in 46 major tournaments before winning his first at the 2004 Masters. Coupled with the 2005 PGA Championship, Mickelson's second Masters win gives him three of the past nine major titles. Some information for this report was provided by AFP and AP.
