Sweden's Stenson Leads Qatar Golf After 2nd Round

Swedish golfer Henrik Stenson has the halfway lead at the Qatar Masters tournament in Doha. Stenson, the 2005 runner-up, shot a four-under-par 68 in the second round and leads Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez by one stroke.

The praise for Stenson is regular and justified at present. He is in excellent form and having led into the final round in Abu Dhabi last week, he is showing the way once again.

Not that he is satisfied with the way he is playing, and that is probably a good thing in itself. He still wants to get the ball striking absolutely right.

Ricardo Gonzalez is continuing his form too, though tiredness is setting in and he admits to a little anxiety about being one of the frontrunners for a second consecutive week.

Nick Dougherty and Richard Finch, of England share eight-under-par, with the likes of Ernie Els and Vijay Singh well off the pace. Though Els's two-under-par means he equals German Bernhard Langer's record of 69 cuts made in a row on the European Tour.
