Police in Los Angeles have opened an inquiry into the death Sunday of U.S. actress Brittany Murphy.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles confirmed that the 32-year-old actress died around 10:00 a.m. local time. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an emergency call from her home earlier that morning. The cause of death has not been confirmed.
Murphy first gained fame in the 1995 teen movie Clueless, and later had roles in the high-profile dramas Girl, Interrupted, in 1999, and 8 Mile in 2002. More recently, she appeared in the 2005 thriller Sin City and provided the voice for the character Luanne on the animated television series King of the Hill.
Murphy was married to British screenwriter and director Simon Monjack.
