American Actress Lindsay Lohan has begun serving a 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation.
She was placed in handcuffs Tuesday after a brief hearing in Beverly Hills, California. Lohan will serve her time at a women's jail, where she will be kept in isolation and will have to wear a standard prison jumpsuit.
She is expected to serve much less than the full 90-day sentence. That is due, in part, to the massive overcrowding found in prisons in California.
Lohan had been on probation since 2007 because of drunk-driving and drug-possession charges.
A judge ruled earlier this month that Lohan violated her probation by missing multiple court-ordered alcohol education classes.
The 24-year-old rose to fame at age 11, when she starred in a remake of the classic film The Parent Trap. She is also known for her more recent roles in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.
