Afghan President Hamid Karzai has met with Indian leaders in hopes of securing more military aid before international troops leave the country next year.
Mr. Karzai held talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh late Tuesday in New Delhi, after meeting with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
The Afghan president is expected to seek India's assistance to help strengthen Afghan security forces and meet military shortages, before NATO forces withdraw by the end of next year. India is an ally of Afghanistan.
Last week, the Afghan ambassador in New Delhi said Afghanistan would like both lethal and non-lethal military equipment.
India does not currently provide any weapons to the Afghan army, but has trained a limited number of Afghan troops at Indian military institutions.
