Egypt Defeats Nigeria at Africa Cup of Nations

Reigning Africa Cup of Nations football champion Egypt has defeated Nigeria 3-1 in their opening Group C match at the Ombaka Stadium in Benguela, Angola.

Nigeria took the lead after 14 minutes on a powerful left-footed shot by Chinedu Obasi from outside the box. Emad Motaeb got the equalizer for Egypt in the 33rd minute when he converted at the end of a quick counter attack.

Ahmad Hassan gave Egypt the lead in the 54th minute on a long shot, and substitute Mohamed Nagui completed the scoring before 32,000 fans with a goal in the 87th minute.

In Tuesday's late Group-C match, Mozambique rallied from a 2-0 deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw with Benin
