German Border Controls Raise Migrants’ Anxiety

  • Luis Ramirez

Germany’s decision to impose border controls, effectively suspending the Schengen agreement, has meant more anxiety for the more than 1,000 migrants who made it into the country on Monday. German police have begun implementing the new restrictions, checking documents of passengers on trains and searching cars at the Austrian border. VOA correspondent Luis Ramirez traveled from Munich – where most migrants have been heading – to Freilassing, on Germany’s border with Austria.
