Residents of the island nation of Bermuda are considering themselves lucky after Hurricane Gonzalo scored a direct hit Friday night into Saturday, but caused no deaths and only minor injuries.

Gonzalo struck with massive rain and 175 kilometer per hour winds — tearing off roofs, uprooting trees, and knocking out power to most of the island chain.

Premier Michael Dunkley said Bermuda took what he calls "a licking," but said everything damaged can be replaced or repaired.

The storm is moving north and is expected to pass near the coast of Newfoundland, Canada late Saturday or early Sunday.

Tropical storm watches are out for parts of the province.
