India's foreign minister is headed to China for talks aimed at repairing a relationship that was strained by a recent border dispute.
Salman Khurshid will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and other officials in Beijing during his two-day visit that begins Thursday.
Long-standing tensions flared up last month, after New Delhi accused Chinese soldiers of setting up camp on the Indian side of an informal border dividing the two countries. China denied the incursion.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying, says the dispute was "properly resolved" through negotiations. She says Beijing is looking forward to maintaining the "healthy and stable" development of China-Indian relations.
Earlier this week, there were reports that both armies withdrew their troops to an unspecified distance, ending the standoff in the eastern Ladakh region.
The incident is part of a long-running border dispute between India and China, which has persisted despite numerous rounds of talks. China claims the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, while India says China occupies large parts of a barren plateau in Kashmir.
The two countries fought a bitter war in the Himalayan region 50 years ago, and lingering suspicions persist. India has reported an increased number of incursions by Chinese troops in recent years.
