The Life of Martin Luther King


Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister and civil-rights activist, had a seismic impact on race relations in the U.S., beginning in the mid-1950s. Through his tireless activism, he played a pivotal role ending the legal segregation of African-American citizens in the South and other areas of the U.S. He was assassinated in 1968.
