A U.S. Marine jet crashed into a residential area in southern California Wednesday.

The Harrier jet went down in a neighborhood in the town of Imperial, located east of San Diego near the U.S.-Mexico border. At least two houses were destroyed in the crash but no residents were killed or injured.

The pilot managed to safety eject before the crash, but was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The plane took off from a Marine air base located in Yuma, Arizona, about 106 kilometers east of Imperial.

This is the second crash of a Harrier jet stationed at the Yuma air base in less than a month. The first crash happened in a remote desert area outside of Phoenix. The pilot in that incident also managed to eject safely.
